Some years I got zero cards. Other years I got maybe one or two from classmates whose mothers made them give cards to everyone in the class. It seemed like everyone else got lots of Valentine cards. I was very shy, small, skinny, wore glasses and usually got very good grades, so most of the other kids made fun of me or ignored me.

When I got home from school I'd go to my room and cry. This was in the early 1960s.

Actually, when I was younger, I was in an all boys school.
We never had a Valentine's Day thing for something like that.

We were tasked to do crafts work which will then be given to our mothers.

One year, we were taught how to make fans, sew wallets, weave a basket and things like that.
All before 5th grade.

It was nice.

There are things I learned myself.

It is why some of the letters I have written for my ex she had framed.

in my classes everyone had to make a card for everyone, that way nobody felt left out. Of course if you "liked" (code for "had a crush on&quot someone, you put a lot more work into their Valentine.
I hope your Valentines days are much happier now!
