After 40 years of puffing away. So far, so good!
I did the patch for 6 weeks, all the while using cinnamon toothpicks and Red Hot little candies to give me an oral fix. Now, down to needing no extra stimulants. I'm glad. I feel better and breathe better.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KIND SUPPORT!!!

(22,772 posts)You should be so proud of yourself!
Hang in there - I found that after I quit, I discovered sneaky triggers with each new season - things I didn't realize that I associated with smoking (like cooking on the grill, outdoor concerts in the summer and planting bulbs in the autumn etc) and once you know your triggers, you can stay one step ahead of them. Way to go!!!!

(23,340 posts)Quitting is the best thing I ever did for myself, and this year marks 30 years of being quit. I used to smoke 2.5 packs of Marlboros a day for years.
90 days means that the nicotine is out of your system, you are long past any withdrawal you might feel.

(10,418 posts)I quit July 5, 2012, and it's been the best thing I've ever done for my health. It feels so good to be free of that addiction! I've also saved around $5000 in that time.

(18,622 posts)When I started smoking in NC in the very early 70s, cigarettes were 25c per pack. Now, the last ones I bought were ~$6.50. I wish I had all that moolah!

(34,582 posts)you can never smoke another one. You may try to tell yourself "I can have just one" and maybe bum one from a friend. Do not do this. I have done that many times- just stay away.

Seriously, congratulations. This month marks my 10 years of not smoking. I smoked for 35 years and I KNOW how hard it is to quit. I used the patch as well and it worked like a dream.
