(44,571 posts)but I have yet to serve.
The problem seems to be when I tell them that I write and edit for a living. I've been advised that lawyers don't like jurors with enhanced creative and problem-solving skills.
P.S. A few weeks ago, I watched a true crime show where the lawyer said they should dismiss one potential juror because "overweight women are VERY unsympathetic."

Maybe, I'm sleeping at the wrong time or on too many jury blacklist.

(71,265 posts)I wonder if many have me on theirs.

(72,300 posts)Seriously, I wouldn't guess very many have you on jury blacklist.

(6,261 posts)For what it's worth. I'm a pretty lenient juror, I think, erring on the side of free speech.

(4,243 posts)I thought it was more than that.
It went the opposite of what I voted for on probably 16 of those... hahahh
I probably commented a couple of times and that's it. Do you always comment? How many don't go your way?
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)I suppose I don't comment when I think it is clear why I vote a certain way.

(14,940 posts)I had no idea! It's pretty much always the same type of case. Someone is rude for no real reason and someone rightfully takes exception to the rudeness. I would guess that is the case in 70% of the juries I've served on. If people would be more polite DU and the world would be happier places. I think.

(71,265 posts)Not as many now since the new anti troll systems were put in (named removed and last days posts deleted)

(71,265 posts)Now I sit on a jury once a day and sometimes twice.
A HERETIC I AM
(24,360 posts)in front of their computer!
And FWIW, I've averaged just over 3 posts a day for the 10 years and 6 months I've been a member. If you're on DU a whole lot more, and post a shitload more, you're gonna get more Jury requests.
Just sayin.
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)A HERETIC I AM
(24,360 posts)And I mean YEARS!
One of the reasons I've cracked 3 posts a day is because I put up threads on occasion in the Cooking and Baking groups which have garnered a lot of replies. I tend to respond to the replies. I also noticed I am putting up a lot more OP's over the last couple years than I did before.
The other reason is I have an iPhone, an iPad and a mobile hotspot now, which I didn't for most of my tenure here. I am a trucker and the hotspot lets me get a 4G signal almost any time I want nationwide. - No, I don't post while I'm driving, for those concerned.
I didn't mean to sound snarky. If you enjoy the board and desire to prolifically participate, by all means do so.
I do wonder about people that average over 60 posts a day though, and there are a few of them. It makes me curious if they actually read anything, or if they are just waiting for the next opportunity to say something. It also makes me wonder about the size of their behinds!
And I am no Slim Jim, by any stretch! One must go outside and walk on occasion, if at all possible!
On edit to answer your question; 272. But I have kept my 100% eligibility status for most of the time the Jury system has been in place. Translation;? I cheat!

(34,582 posts)that seems a bit low. I had a 100% chance of jury duty not long ago, but then I went a month or two without a star, and I had a couple posts hidden. One was a justified hide (even though the person was an asshat) and the other was nit picky.

No matter, the jury system on DU demonstrates why it's so hard to convict killers in Florida with our fuzzy laws. It's hard enough with a clear standard.

(71,265 posts)Soon after the jury system was introduced, I made my first and only complaint about some obnoxious right wing troll who came to "visit." I was told by the jury to shut up and grow a thicker skin. The troll in question was banned within a few hours, but I got my taste of the DU jury system, and it was enough.
