Saw that the MGM Grand had a "Food Court" with McDonald's, Nathan's, and a few other places...that's pretty much my current budget, BUT I was SHOCKED to see that ONE Nathan's "Quarter Pound Hot Dog" costs NINE BUCKS (I abstained).
I'm used to buying packaged Nathan's hot dogs for around 5 bucks and I normally wait until they have a "buy one, get one free" sale. That means that for the same nine bucks, I can get TWO packages of dogs and rolls to go with them...sixteen frigging dogs for the same price as one in the MGM Grand.
Vegas...you've gotta love it.

All of them at or only slightly above the normal cost.
For $9 that hot dog better come on a gold plated tray.

(14,549 posts)some of the lesser known casinos have great buffets. the locals and those who work on the strip know where to get the great eats for cheap. Our driver took us to one that was $12 for all you can eat AND the quality was very good. Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner 24/7. And he took us right to the back door which was the closest way to the food. I forget which casino it was but definitely not one of the majors. I think it was like a Ballys or the Golden Nugget.

(23,272 posts)They were really trying to lure you in with the food and then you'd drift into THEIR casino to gamble. I went on a spring college break in 1979....
Food was the cheapest part of the whole deal.

(32,969 posts)Their 8.99 special dinner includes a 10-ounce filet-cut sirloin, which comes with salad, garlic green beans, choice of potato, and fresh microbrewed beer. And their clientele is waaay more fun IMHO.
