You got: Anton Chekhov
Calm and contemplative, you need someone who shares your desire to lie in a hammock in the Russian countryside, drink champagne, and think about the meaning of life. Both of you know that love, alas, is a fickle emotion, so you must cherish it for the fleeting moment in which it graces you.

Part of the blurb said: Oscar dines at the best clubs with the most interesting people, so hes also your ticket to a wicked (pun intended) social scene.
That does not fit with what I answered. My answers did not seem very social at all.

(21,846 posts)That's why I thought it odd that I got him.
I picked the log cabin out in the woods. I said my favorite Sunday afternoon was walking on the boardwalk. I thought a proposal while hiking was the best. My favorite university was Columbia. Those things sound very un-Oscar Wilde-like.
Tuesday Afternoon
(56,912 posts)I picked the Boardwalk and the Hiking Proposal, too.
The cabin it was not complete and Columbia, no.
I wonder at the algorithms used to determine the answers, sometimes.
on edit: I can see where one could expect Henry David Thoreau from that input ...

(9,077 posts)Youre a real charmer, and you need someone who can match your charisma and witty banter. Oscar dines at the best clubs with the most interesting people, so hes also your ticket to a wicked (pun intended) social scene. But beneath that flamboyant exterior is just a little boy desperately craving your love.

Which Pet Should You Actually Have?
http://www.buzzfeed.com/chelseamarshall/which-pet-should-you-actually-have
Test, and got myself a Wombat.
I didn't think about it, but now looking at it, that is probably perfect.
You got: Wombat
The older you get, the wiser you get and you value that trait in others. Youre fantastic at maintaining long-term relationships with people so you need a pet who will do the same. Youre a quirkier version of a dog person, which is kind of exactly what a wombat is. Advice: You may need to move to Australia before living out this pet dream.

(4,338 posts)You got: Henry David Thoreau
Via en.wikipedia.org
You want a man whos simple, self-sufficient, and hardworking. A man who loves nature and flouts public opinion to create his own movement. A man who doesnt even have a Twitter or Facebook. The two of you can live together, out in the tranquility of the woods, with no Wi-Fi, no electricity, no human contact whatsoever actually, maybe you should retake this quiz.

(28,394 posts)You got: Jane Austen
Ever so genteel, you are in need of a woman who is your equal in rank and temperament, a woman who is financially independent but who still appreciates being taken care of. As romantic realists, both you and Jane realize that your imperfections make you perfect for each other, and that it is a combination of reason and emotion that makes a happy marriage.
News to me that I need a woman! hahahaha

God created man to be alive and to have joy and grief and sorrow; but you want nothing, so you are not alive, you are stone, clay! A stone wants nothing and you want nothing. You are a stone, and God does not love you, but He loves the gentleman!"

(683 posts)Youre not daunted by women who are brilliant but emotionally fragile. On the contrary, youre selfless and kind enough to want to really nurture someone and support their illustrious career. Yours is a truly deep love because it is a love of the mind, and it will surpass all the hours.

(5,604 posts)You need a manly man. A man who doesnt mince his words. A man who knows that love that is true and real creates a respite from death. Youll need to keep an eye out for him because hes pretty popular with the ladies, but you understand that his wandering eye just comes from a fear of rejection.
Makes sense I guess. The 3 authors that I have the most affinity with are Kerouac, Steinbeck, and Hunter Thompson, so Hemingway would be good company too.

Tuesday Afternoon
(56,912 posts)Virginia Woolf, Jan Austen and, Sylvia Plath have been mentioned. So, that makes three female authors.
However, the gender preference omission is pretty glaring so, I will give you that ...
Art_from_Ark
(27,247 posts)because at the time I made my post, the only female author I saw mentioned was Virginia Woolf.
