As for his suit, buttoned at the bottom or not, it just looks a teensy bit too snug...but that's just my impression. A rich guy in an ill fitting suit....somehow something there is off.

The underlying message about how we LOVE hard work in this country and that it's the Europeans who are wrong, well, you can believe that if you want. What I've seen is lots of hardworking people who gave their best shot and much of their lives for a company that didn't care what they gave or sacrificed. You work until you can't any more or they put you out to pasture because you're too old and even though you're 60, they tell you that you need to work like you're 30. Good luck with that.

Nope, I think the European idea of gathering on the square in the evening to share some ice cream, talk with neighbors and friends and TAKING THE MONTH of AUGUST OFF, is not a bad thing. Stop and smell the roses....once in a while. It's not the end of civilization as we know it. But then I guess I just spoke heresy against the American way, eh?

.....but you have to admit that it's aimed squarely and successfully at the smug thinks-he's-rich doofus who wouldn't know a quality automobile if it ran over him, their exact target market.

strangle that guy with a pool noodle.

I'm sure all the people who have been breaking their back at low-paying jobs for decades just looooove this arrogant SOB's bragging.

The first time I ever saw it (during the Super Bowl), I actually started yelling at the TV.

"No, I don't 'n'est-ce pas', you arrogant, deluded jackass!"

I find this ad repulsive to the point of outright offensiveness. Workaholism is not a fucking virtue, and the meaning of life is not to acquire as much random consumer crap as possible. Also, it would be fucking AWESOME to live in country like France where everyone gets 6 weeks of vacation a year.'

The best part: I am actually in an income bracket where that car would be easily within my reach. And I would MUCH rather live in France, with higher taxes but mandatory vacations, then have that car. Fuck that car. Fuck overwork. Fuck "stuff". Fuck this shitty, sad American mindset where these kind of jackasses think that what people will wish on their deathbed is that they worked more and had more stuff. What a horrible lie this commercial is feeding to the American public.

"We're 'Merika. We work 80 hour weeks. We don't enjoy meals with friends or family. We don't know how to relax. Because we're busy being greedy materialist assholes who only place value on the price of things to convince the little people that we have power & we're better than them."

It was almost embarassing.

All work, everyday for 8, 10, 12 hours is a ticket to a coronary by 60. His kids will thank him as they blow is treasure on booze and self destructive entertainment.

Not a bad car, but I find it amusing that they're trying to rip on the Europeans because it's only recently that American luxury cars are even worth looking again. In most respects I still think those six-week vacation taking, universal healthcare loving, high taxed socialists make nicer looking cars. I much prefer the styling of an Audi, BMW, or Mercedes to a Cadillac or Lincoln.

But I guess Detroit figures rah-rah jingoism is a new technique to sell cars (that Chrysler commercial with Bob Dylan had a similar vibe) but not nearly this bad.

The funny thing is all those bailout opposing t-monkeys will probably root for Mr. Suitman (who as another poster noted will have a heart attack by the age of fifty due to too much stress caused by overwork and his wife would probably leave him and take the kids).
