https://www.thedodo.com/cat-living-in-home-depot-for-1-401344728.htmlAlthough the friendly feline, named Depot, has been a well-liked fixture for more than a decade, greeting guests as they shopped, management at the Bluffton store said the cat had begun triggering security alarms at night -- so it had to go.
As word got out that Depot was being evicted, customer Daniel Goodell led a charge to convince the store to allow her to stay. He launched a petition on change.org, receiving more than 1,500 signatures.
"The cat did nothing to management, and if the cat is put into a shelter she'll be destroyed due to her age," wrote Goodall.

(50,566 posts)Something like: "We hate to do this, but Depot has been triggering alarms so we're looking for a good home for him." It seems likely that someone who enjoyed the kitty at the store would have given him a good home.

(15,220 posts)Or Goodall (as it's spelled both ways in the article).
I'm always impressed by one person taking action. It's amazing sometimes what CAN happen when one person stands up and says "uh...NO!"

(28,461 posts)the cat's probably been working OT keeping the rodent population in check in their garden center. All Home Depots should have cats.

(11,360 posts)The cat has probably stayed there for a reason, and is likely preforming a valuable service for them.

(50,552 posts)The one I worked at usually had at least one cat living off the mice and rats in Garden...about six months after they moved in, a customer would catch the cat and take it home. Then a month or so later, another cat would move in and begin anew.
