My brother seems to think he'll get less but I find that hard to believe.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
Peace.
Shout out to PoliticAverse see post 3 where he answered the q.

(26,366 posts)Why would he be going from SSDI to SS?

(1,903 posts)he has to retire when he hits 65. I tried to find info on the SS site and it seems right. He became disabled at 45 after working since he was 17. I may be wasting your time...
Just hoping someone could make sense of it. He's pretty scared because he is barely making ends meet now. Maybe I'm not using the right terms?
Thanks for the response.
Peace.

if he retires at 65. Note that from the SS administration:
If you are receiving Social Security disability benefits,
your disability benefits automatically convert to
retirement benefits, but the amount remains the same.
Note that SSDI includes free Medicare Part A (as does regular SS).

(1,328 posts)became disabled in his 40's. Once approved for disability his benefits rose yearly like they do for anyone else on SS. Once he was retirement age his benefits continued the same way, there was no increase or reduction in benefits.
He also paid the for Part A & B as anyone else does, nothing was free.

(26,366 posts)You got Social Security or Railroad Retirement Board disability benefits for 24 months.
But you are right part B has to be paid for both by SSDI and SS recipients.
