(16,330 posts)Came downstairs the other day to find the lab chewing on a box meant for the recycle bin. She wasn't smiling, though. Had that very guilty look on her.
Happy sunday! Enjoyed these!

(31,950 posts)I get that look whenever one of the pups heeds nature's call without visiting nature.
I came home from work a couple weeks ago, and my black lab didn't meet me at the door with his usual welcome home song (high pitched howling that will make your ears bleed). I went looking for him and found him in my bedroom. I'd forgotten to block the door that morning before leaving and he'd let himself in (the bedroom doors have those lever-type door knobs and he has figured out how to use them) for a nap on my bed (which he isn't supposed to do because he COATS my comforter with hair), but somehow managed to close the door behind him and absolutely lost his shit when he couldn't get back out (he hasn't managed to figure out pull vs. push yet). He shredded the mini-blind, knocked over two lamps and ruined the carpet in front of the door trying to tunnel his way out.
I love him with my whole heart everyday, but there are days...............

(16,330 posts)I kept telling my husband that I knew the lab was going in the guest bathroom in the hall. Well, this is Daddy's Girl, so he kept defending her saying he had trained her not to go in the hallway. And this is true the majority of the time. We can leave the door open and it's usually not an issue. But I kept finding an awful lot of black dog hair in there, lol.
One day HE came home and heard some whimpering. He could not find her anywhere in the usual places. Apparently, the lab had gone into the bathroom and closed herself in! NABBED!
We can always read this dog's face. She is so expressive no matter if she's happy or in trouble.
Funny about the howling. Our old dog would howl up a storm. We always knew when an ambulance siren was about to start. She would howl at other dog howls or just when she felt slighted by our absence. But neither of our present dogs howl at all.

(204,822 posts)However, the "dirty martini" brought back a memory for me. The dog I grew up was a cocker spaniel, and she's the dog I had the longest because we got her as a puppy, while the dogs I've adopted have been senior dogs (until Jack). When I was a kid, my parents always had their "cocktail hour" when my Dad came home from work. My Dad always had a martini, while he made something pink for my mother. I have no idea how she could stand it, but one time the puppy was up on the couch and started lapping up my father's martini on the side table, got a lot of laughs, but I noticed she never did that again...
Happy Sunday, my friend! And thanks for coming through with so many smiles...
