Fibrosarcoma.
It appears they got all of it (they removed a bit of tissue around the tumor and the pathologist says all the borders look clean), but the cancer has a tendency to come back.
For now, we are going to wait and see. The tumor grew really fast from about the size of a marble in December to a little bit bigger than a golf ball in March. If it comes back, we can probably excise the tumor without such major surgery as last time (I call her Frankenkitty right now because she has this huge incision line with stitches).
Thanks for the good thoughts. She's getting around pretty good. Jumping around and climbing (which freaks me out because I worry she is going to open her incision) and doesn't seem to be in any pain. I've been wrapping her incision with gauze everyday and then wrapping an ace bandage to keep her from messing with it and today was her first day without that.
Fingers crossed.

(5,310 posts)...the stitches look pretty gnarly, but she looks comfortable.
I have a diabetic, 15 y.o. cat, so I can empathize with ya!
