Today is the perfect day for a banana appropriate compost question! although even it may be a slippery slope (groan....)

We compost everythong we can, but we don't want to stink out the neighborhood.

too and have never had trouble with banana peels.

I don't know if you have a "recipe" for your composter, but mine is pretty simple...

No meat

Whatever "green" stuff goes into the composter gets an equal measure of "non green" stuff...example... vegetable peelings get wrapped in newspaper or brown paper bag.

And water.

I love the smell of nicely rotted compost...

Our boys eat a lot of bananas , though, so I'd love to be able to compost those peels as well.

Thanks for the feedback. We have just a small yard, but we generate a good amount of grass clippings and leaves. Coupled with fruit/vegetable waste from our kitchen, it makes for quite a nice volume of compost!

Thanks again!

also, peeing in your compost is good too!!
I've occasionally invited male friends to take a leak in the composter.

by the way, I'm sorry I haven't yet replied to that past reply you posted to me. I wanted to wait till I wasn't really angry about the whole mess, and give it a good amount of time so I could think; and then I got busy and distracted. I'm willing to revisit if it hasn't gone so far down the river already that it's become moot....

Hope to catch them in awkward poses and dances with my game cameras. :smok e:

But they do take a long time to break down. Perhaps cutting them into small pieces first.
