(24,146 posts)i think it's related to my sleep pattern going to hell, but that's not nearly enough to go back to cigs.
bigwillq
(72,790 posts)fizzgig
(24,146 posts)but nothing like this i haven't slept properly since tuesday. i can't get tired and when i finally get to sleep, it's disrupted by very intense dreams which wake me up multiple times a night, sometimes in tears.
the same thing happened when i was in the hospital and used the patch. it's just something i'll have to ride out.
bigwillq
(72,790 posts)I smoke. I have awful sleep patterns. I never really dream because I don't think I ever fall deep enough to sleep to dream.
I toss and turn all night. Maybe get a few hours.
I work second shift and when I come home I am always wired so don't usually go to sleep until 2 or 3 a.m.
I do try to take a nap every day and it's good sleep, but it's only like 20 mins to an hour.
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)just the same sleep disruption.
i usually work until 11 or so and bedtime is generally the same as yours but it's gotten pushed back to 430 or 5 since this started, but staying asleep has never been an issue. i called off work today because i'm just blown out and actually took a nap, which is something i only do if i'm really not feeling well. i might nap a couple times a year.
bigwillq
(72,790 posts)I'm sure napping doesn't help my night sleep situation but I need my naps.
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)my nap-loving mom was not thrilled about that.
bigwillq
(72,790 posts)I'm sure my mom was not thrilled about that!
Now, I love naps.

Have you always lived in Colorado?
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)didn't even leave for college and still live in the same city in which i grew up. i love it here for so many reasons and can't think of many places i'd rather live.
Raffi Ella
(4,465 posts)I was born in GA and haven't lived anywhere else, although I can imagine living some where else, lol. Well, sort of. I don't know, it's a love hate thing with GA.
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)and that was miserable. i would like to see a bit more of it, though.
Raffi Ella
(4,465 posts)I haven't been to Colorado, yet anyway. I do know it's gorgeous for skiing and hiking and other outdoor stuff. Plus the cannabis factor. Even though I hardly ever smoke any more, it'd be wild to be able to walk into a public store and buy it. I can't imagine that.
Have you been to a dispensary yet?
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)we'll go once we have some extra cash. i'm really interested in the edibles.

(153,142 posts)if you smoke there will be hell to pay, I tell you; yes INDEED
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)did you have problems with sleep disruption when you quit? i'm having one helluva time getting to and staying asleep lately, issues i haven't ever really had, and this is the only thing i can think that's causing it.
but the good news is that thoughts of wanting a smoke haven't even crossed my mind for a couple days, i think i'm starting to get over that emotional attachment.
Skittles
(153,142 posts)so no noticible sleep disruptions for me but it is indeed a common occurance for many folks who quit and will lessen over time - remember: NOPE: "NOT ONE PUFF EVER!"
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)and am actually feeling human today.
saying nope a lot does make me feel like a republican, though
Skittles
(153,142 posts)think of it as a battle against a nicodemon - keep winning those battles and you will win the war! That demon is ALWAYS on standby just waiting to pounce so always be on guard!!
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)the sleep deprivation finally triggered a major anxiety attack, something i've always dealt with by smoking (in addition to my rescue pills). took my pill, fiddled with the pen and laid down without even thinking about cigarettes.
one day at a time is all i can do.
Skittles
(153,142 posts)always remember this: smoking never really dealt with anything but your addiction! There are more effective ways of dealing with ANY stresses in life - yes INDEED

What are you and your bestie planning on doing?
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)we're both in rough spots right now, so i imagine some tears and lots of talking. if the weather is nice i want to at least take a walk, maybe a picnic. it's a mental health visit more than anything, but we'll still have fun

What's there weather like where you are today?
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)needed my jacket over my hoodie, but there was a bit cloud cover. we're looking at cool and maybe rain this weekend, which bums me out as i wanted to spend some time outside. but, hey, that's springtime at the base of the rockies. how's the weather for you?

And good on you for your efforts toward quitting smoking. I got some Chantix but have been too chicken to try it.
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)and the warm up is wonderful.
good luck with your quitting. the med route wasn't open to me, just keep an eye on the side effects if/when you do start. maybe try nicotine replacements to start with, but ymmv.
