http://www.wtop.com/1228/3593322/Consumer-Reports-rates-grocery-storesFrom the few chains I know, seems like this ranking could also have been done by
simply taking the chains located in the very upper middle class areas and putting them
at the top, and the chains located in poorer areas at the bottom.
WASHINGTON -- Consumer Reports readers ranked Wegmans and Trader Joe's the top grocery stores for service, price satisfaction, cleanliness and perishables.
Consumer Reports says this is the fourth straight survey where Wegmans, Trader Joe's and Publix have been at the top of the rankings, while Walmart, Pathmark (Northeast) and Shaw's have been near the bottom. Consumer Reports conducted the surveys in 2005, 2008, 2011 and 2014.
On a 100-point scale, Wegmans scored 88 and Trader Joe's scored 87.

Walmart Supercenter scored 67 on the 100-point scale.

(12,017 posts)1. Wegman's is THE BEST
I don't live near one, but whenever I visit my son in NY, it's the first place I go. I could, quite literally, LIVE in a Wegman's. From their deli to their fresh breads to their salad bar, it's one-stop shopping for everything to do with food. And never have I seen such a wide and fresh variety of produce.

And there are always several fresh fruits/veggies at such low prices I have to buy some and store them

quite ticked off when they discontinued their Southern-style frozen chicken breasts!

If I had 5 things I would miss if I were to leave the Northeast, Wegmans would be in the top 3...

Sux. I would love to have a modern, full-service supermarket to shop in.
