Hey smart people of DU: Need cellphone help. Credo Mobile

Our cell # is in our area code, but the 3 number prefix is in a city that we must dial long distance to reach.
I can dial my home landline from the cell without dialing the AC.
But to CALL my cell, I must dial the area code and it's a long distance charge.

Credo tells me they can choose the area code, but the prefix is computer generated and they have no control of the number it spits out.
This makes no sense to me.
Why would I want a prefix that's a long distance call within my area code.
Anybody?
Thanks

there are no long distance or roaming fees. It is annoying but I have just gotten into the habit of putting the AC on every number I save.
