Is there a purpose behind the water other than it looks pretty from afar? Is the same water recycled?

it seems to be a waste of water unless the water is somehow recycled.

How the Waterfall Swing works

Water recirculates through 384 independently controlled solenoid valves at the top of the structure to create a wall of water. This water starts from a collection pool on the ground and is pumped up to a 4" distribution pipe that feeds the solenoids. Rotational encoders mounted on the swing axis gather information about the angle and speed of each swing. That information is sent to a computer that predicts the action of the rider. The computer then creates a hole in the wall of water, allowing the rider to swing through without getting wet.

According to the website I linked, it reuses the same water. It's not like it has a hose hooked up to it and the water just drains away. The base is collecting it and sending it back to the pump.

I haven't been on one for more than 30 years, but I remember that it gave me the best and most enjoyable ab workout ever.

Yes, a friend and I smoked some weed and went to the park after dark. Good times.

I sent your link info to my nephew. He's in the backyard playground business. And he also just loves to build his own kids' outdoor toys. Thanks for the info!

That is an awesomely cool swingset.

It should, however, be adjustable so that on a hot day the kids can get wet.

I can see kids trying to outsmart it, by stopping, twisting, twerking the swing just to get wet. Or maybe standing on the swing… hell, reminds me of how much fun being a kid was.

They go into the software a bit on the website I linked. It can "print" words and logos as well. So there isn't any outsmarting it, so to speak, rather it will do whatever you program it to do.

As a side note, from reading the website, it appears it is a one-off that they will install by appointment, more or less.

Whether they would build one for a customer is not mentioned on their website.

the principle is quite simple when you think about it. I think I can see where the chain of the swings is coupled there appears to be a horizontal bar that rotates back and forth. On the opposite side of that bar I would imagine that there is a complete cylinder when the swing is dead centre and maybe 15 degrees other side, and the rest of the time there is open space allowing water to flow. The water jets would be gravity fed. Absolutely genius in its simplicity, and the other advantage is when the kids leave the swings the flow stops automatically.
