I know from the years posting here that there are plenty of fans of both the Bloom County cartoons and Calvin & Hobbes. But unfortunately both cartoons were retired ages ago.
If you could pick just one and the artist would start creating the series again - which would you pick

(60,010 posts)Trudeau took hiatus to focus on Alpha Males tv show.
IMHO, his forays into music, stage and screen have never reached the level of the strip.
Meanwhile, so many topics continue to be served up by the Reich Wing, that are overly deserving of his attention in the strip.

(27,677 posts)but I have to give Calvin the nod. C&H could take me places BC just never could, i.e. the mind of a child.

(5,842 posts)in its portrayal of the joys/pitfalls of childhood whereas Bloom County seemed to be "of it's time".
Even accounting for the strip incorporating contemporary political / pop culture commentary I'm not sure the general setting and personalities of the some of the human Bloom County characters would translate into today's culture without some sort of major adjustment.

(27,247 posts)Calvin and Hobbes is fine, but if I had to choose between the two, it would be Bloom County by a country mile.
