Elf Shot

Strewn about the British Isles are flint arrowhead that were used by its earlier denizens. Whenever cattle or sheep fell ill or were wounded, it was often the case that flint arrowheads were found in the vicinity and took the blame. They were known as elf shot. they would sometimes rub the arrowhead on the animal's wound and dip it in its drinking water to protect it from further elf calamities.
