I watched Salem, so you don't have to.

Ok, so WGN has been advertising this series for months and it was a show I wanted to check out.

So I did.

The sets and costumes are nice and a couple of the actors are good (specifically, the women playing Mary and Mercy). But the dialog is horrible and some of the actors are pretty bad (most notably, the actress playing Tituba who forgets her own accent multiple times during the show.) The sex is gratuitous, which makes it laughable and immature. Plus, some of the special effects don't seem to mesh well with the time period.

I give it a "Meh." I may watch one more episode to see if it gets better, but if it doesn't, I'm out.

Anyone else see it? What did you think?

Did WGN add a disclaimer to remind viewers that the series is not historically accurate? Here's the petition I signed asking them to.

The victims of the Salem witch hunt insanity were not witches!

was obvious, but ignoramuses probably ate it right up and considered it factual.

A cousin of mine who is descended from the same witch trial victims I am once said to me in an email as we were discussing the witchcraft trials:

"Well, it's possible that not all of the accused were witches."

she said for about 40 minutes and turned it off. We have struggled through a couple of the AMC series TURN and have given up on it.

I was over it after the branding....The rest was just hog wash. As someone stated before, there were no witches in Salem! And too many Americans will confuse this for reality....they are that dumb.

was over-the-top. I felt sorry for the branded actor. He seemed bored with his character's agony. As if the director had said, "Keep screaming!", even though the motivation for it was long gone.

I was ok with the acting, costumes, cinematography and it not being historical but... What a crap story... It's just not good.
