If the Admins want me to move this to the Genealogy forum I most certainly will do so. I was just curious whether there is a way to get 1800"s obituaries and 1870 census that are not on states GenWEB sites because I'm hitting a brick wall. I know that the census' before 1850 are useless because all they give are Head of Household and the age ranges for males and females.
A sincere Thank You to any replies that can point me in the right direction. I have been pretty lucky, but am stuck on a great-great grandmother who evidently died between 1867 and 1869 in Indiana. At least she disappeared without a trace (documentwise) and her three children were in foster homes in 1870, cannot find their father in 1870 census (found him in 1880 with a new wife and his children living with relatives).

I am not a registered genealogist - just a dabbler. Do you have any online subscriptions?

(7,952 posts)I thought I was posting in the wrong forum. I used to belong to Ancestry, and maybe when I some extra disposable income I may rejoin.

(34,136 posts)I've got a World membership and don't mind doing some look ups. I'm an amateur, but I grew up with grandmother and mother doing serious genealogy and have lots of experience.
I will be going out of town Friday and won't be back for more than a week so it may take until I get back for me to do it.
