Feeling sad. My town is trapped in gridlock due to a suicidal man. UPDATE: Man talked down!

Went to my local Trader Joe's and had a heck of a time just getting out of my little neighborhood onto a main artery, which was also severely backed up.

When I finally made it home I looked up the local news online to see what was going on.

There's a suicidal man threatening to jump onto the highway right by my house, so the PD has shut down the highway and all traffic is being diverted into my neighborhood.

Very sad.

I hope they'll be able to talk him down. Meanwhile, no more leaving the house for me until it's resolved.

I've been where that guy is, I hope he gets help.

UPDATE: The man was talked down by the PD and according to them will get the help he needs.
Traffic was reopened and is slowly clearing.

*WHEW*

Happy ending!!!

(although, he has a hard road ahead in recovery)

Kudos to the PD for saving his life.

I read a story recently about a guy who was talked down from a bridge, reuniting with the man who talked to him, years later - he described how he felt when he had no hope, and how the guy who talked to him assured him there was always hope.

I've heard stories like that as well, that those situations are super intense and deep bonds are forged.

I've also heard suicide-survivors say that the second they jumped they regretted it.
So, every situation that ends like this is a win for humanity.
