(11,065 posts)Good for you, lots of fiber, comes in it's own neat biodegradable package. Lovely all by itself or squished on bread with peanut butter. Versatile as hell... in a fruit salad, muffins, cake, pie, etc.
Reese's peanut butter cups are gross. Never liked them. Whatever that crap is between the chocolate ain't peanut butter either.

Flavored...but still baby shit.
TorchTheWitch
(11,065 posts)Flavored as what though? It never tasted anything like peanut butter either. Generic "could be this, might be that" flavoring, I guess.
I swear when I was a kid nearly half my candy from Halloween was those nasty baby shit cups. I would have been happy to trade them all away even for the bruised mystery fruit inspected for razor blades.

(17,671 posts)I like all the other stuff mentioned, especailly anything that comes from Italy. And I'd eat rocks if they had sugar on them. But plain old apples just about top the list. I used to work in an orchard and ate about a half dozen a day. I'll just about always eat an apple.

(50,130 posts)I love apples too.

(17,671 posts)I prefer Arkansas Blacks to Winesaps in winter. Early Blaze cook nice and back in my orchard days about a million years ago we had two trees of a variety that looked like a Golden but had a red blush on one side that I swear tasted like bubble gum. But I can't remember the name. We had a lot or Red Delicious of course, but we had some Striped Delicious that were a favorite as well.

(50,130 posts)My apple vendor at the farmer's market might have Arkansas Black in his repertoire -- I'll have to check this year to see. He grows almost 50 varietals, all by himself.
I like yellow delicious, but not red delicious. Out here in the west we have Gravensteins, which are the preferred pie and sauce apple. Spitzenbergs make good pie, too. Gravensteins are striped with red.
Think I'll go have a Braeburn!

(3,818 posts)The bubblegum-tasting apple that is? I just googled that, I didn't know it off the top of my head. I have been doing a lot of research on heirloom apple trees though as I've bought a few and just learned how to graft as well. I tried a Winter Banana last fall and figured out that it was that apple because of a slight banana flavor.

(22,235 posts)perfect blend of sweet and tart, good crunch almost effervescent in your mouth. The best ones come from Pacific Northwest but in summer we get them from New Zealand or Chile

(29,414 posts)My friends that make them talk about eating them cold out of the refrigerator, but I've got to have them at least warm. So, either microwave, or if I can wait, about 15-minutes on low heat in a fry pan
I have a few waiting for me now. Just no hummus. I'll have to make that myself, though it may be garlicky. I love garlicky hummus
