Drives me nuts when someone gets stuck with raw chicken or some half-conceived custard because the machines were taken.
That's all.

(6 posts)I think it adds an element of strategy to the competition. You have to think quickly and know ahead of time what machine you want to use (if you need one). The same can happen with ingredients. First come, first served.

Or the ones who try to cook their hunk of meat whole instead of breaking it down to cook.

(30,947 posts)I have seen so many episodes where two contestants have the same idea to make ice cream, but one of them has to switch to Plan B because the ice cream machine is in use.

(8,894 posts)I've seen instances where contestants think through what is the back up plan if the desired machine is not available given the time constraint.
Maybe if not ice cream, haul that liquid in the blast chiller to make semifreddo, or turn into a custard or cold soup.'
Nah, let them fight over the machines....

(11,155 posts)what ticked me off was the cook, I won't give her the dignity of calling her a chef, who whined about viewers suggested ingredients. Hey lady the viewers are why you are on that show! Glad she lost.

(2,190 posts)They always go to bread pudding. If I was a judge they would instantly lose when they presented me bread pudding. That has to be the easiest go to thing for them to cook and yet they do it almost every show.

(18,339 posts)Is when the judges say "it needs more salt".
I very rarely add salt to anything, to me it's a personal choice of how much you want to use. Isn't that why it's on the tables to begin with? Just my humble opinion

(20,176 posts)and unlike a lot of herbs, there's not really anything you can substitute for salt.
If it needs more salt, it needs more salt and nothing is going to fix that except salt.
