I know it's been said many times many ways but
AIR TRAVEL IS A MASSIVE PITA!!!!!
Just tried to book a trip to husband's family reunion this summer on a rinky-dink no-frills airline (the only one that serves the small city at a halfway reasonable price).
Of course, the "reasonable price" comes with a zillion fees: you have to pay to reserve a seat, you have to pay to carry on a bag (checked bag is even more), you have to pay to use a credit card, and after ALL THAT, you have to pay a "convenience fee".
I guess it's "convenient" for them to get the extra money, because NOTHING about the process is convenient!!!!
And, after ALL THAT!!!! The site locked up and has a box warning not to do anything to the browser window, or else we might get charged an additional set of non-refundable tickets!!!!!!
High speed rail can't come fast enough. Probably not in my lifetime.....
