(36,827 posts)4. It was almost certainly Babe Ruth's comments that got women bounced
He didn't take it very well, yelled at the umpire, and made disparaging comments about women in MLB to the press. Ruth was an all or nothing hitter and striking him out was no big feat as he had the all time MLB record for strikeouts when he retired. It was actually a bigger feat stricking out Lou Gehrig by taking him down swinging on 3 pitches. You can tell from the picture that Gehrig took it a lot better than the Babe.
