The Bone Cave

In Banwell, Avon a stalactite cave was discovered in 1759 by local miners. While trying to find another entrance to this cave, a second cave was discovered- The Bone Cave. The Bishop of Bath and Wells, George Henry Law, thought the bones to be of the animals perished in Noah's Flood. The bones are from the Pleistocene era, 80,000 years old and include bear, deer, bison, ox, reindeer, wolves, arctic hare, and wolverines that fell through a natural chimney whilst walking and grazing on the hill above.

Maybe human were smart enough to recognize the danger when they came along, and passed on the information from word of mouth.
