The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI have a non Siamese very vocal cat. I look at him and saw "What"? He meows...
He meows at everything. He's also very clingy. He used to be feral and he won't let anyone else near him. I love him but he's neurotic as shit.

(115,669 posts)Never was feral, but he's needy and he licks me and talks to me all the time. But I love him to pieces.

(2,193 posts)He was an adult when I rescued him. He just hung out with me the most out of all the other homes.
It was Jan. and sleeting and he lived in the woods outside my house. I put a heating pad in a rocker on my porch with a towel over the arms so he would have a little shelter to lay on. He came to my French door and started hollering. I let him in, fed him and he got in my lap. That is his favorite place now.

(2,193 posts)One is a rescue and he and my cat are cross species lovers.
I used to have 2 Golden Retrievers and they loved everyone. I can't say the same about these 2.

(22,271 posts)The vocal one just "talks" incessantly but is as sweet as she can be. The neurotic one isn't vocal but she's, well, crazy. All the other cats give her a wide berth for a reason. But she's mine and I love her.

(1,003 posts)He was the descendant of a rescue. He looked so cute and fuzzy as a kitten, no one realized that he would grow to be a 36 pound muscular "house tiger". We figured he was at least part Maine Coon.
As for talking, he purred, he trilled. He purred and trilled together. He also chirped, squeaked, chortled, snorked, growled, yelled, protested, whined, and made almost every sound a cat can make. Except he never learned to meow at all.
I could carry on conversations with him for upwards an hour, and I think he had a better vocabulary and communication skills than most people.

(2,193 posts)But he's one of the most affectionate cats I've ever owned. He purrs, he meows. He kneads, he licks and then he tries to steal my food. He licks a trench in butter or cream cheese I've set out to soften. He's a pain. But when i had a broken ankle, he would ride in the wheelchair with me around my house.
