The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI moved back home to take care of my Mother after my Father died.
I have been here 4 years and am not happy. She died last year but since I moved here, I have frequent bouts of vomiting. I never used to have this. One day I vomited 21 times in one day (I counted) I don't know if it's stress or gall bladder or something worse. I suspect stress. Does anyone still employ people if their 60? What was my college education for?

(149,580 posts)And I suspect you would benefit from a thorough check up by a doctor.
It's possible, though difficult, to get employment when you're 60. Your college education can be good for many things, not just for getting a job.
Did you work before you took care of your Mother?

(68,644 posts)I suggest that you have a legitimate reason to seek medical help, and don't think, please, that it's a weakness if you have trouble coping, I think it's a strength that you care.
Be well, good luck.

(6,011 posts)it seems that worrying about what's causing it will compound the stress. I hope you have a doctor or clinic to go to to get a physical exam.
I've used these symptom checkers occasionally-

(23,272 posts)Sounds like your first step should be getting your gastric issues sorted out. Then you can focus on moving/getting a job/figuring out what's next....

As far as getting employed over 60, it's possible, but not easy and the jobs are slim pickins. And it depends on where you are. Some areas are probably better than others...
