Hey women of DU - I need some suggestions-

I'm going to be on the road, living in the same hotel room for the next month or so. I hate leaving things out on the bathroom counter and making life tougher for the cleaning person. I also hate dumping my makeup into a bag and pulling it out every morning. So - any suggestions for carrying my make-up in an organized fashion without adding too much weight to my bag?

3. I use one of those multi-compartment "fold-up" bags that can hang on the bathroom door.

In fact, I bought two of these at REI a couple years ago--one, I keep packed and ready. The other that I used on the last trip I'll often hang so that I can use up the partially empty bottles before cleaning and re-filling.

Mine's made by Burton and a little different than these (a sunny yellow print that is nice in the morning) but same principle:

I found a similar one at a thrift shop a while back for $3. It works great! I love that it hangs up on the door or from a cabinet handle (when I am visiting my Mom's house) so I can keep all my stuff out of the way but handy for use.

The only problem with the one I got is that someone painted "Mike" on the front and that's not my name. I'm thinking of stitching a needlepoint piece the right size to fit the front, maybe with my name on it.

I'm seeing a lot of toiletry bags on Amazon a lot cheaper than the Burton, some with more interesting arrangements of pockets. I really like this one:

For the price maybe I'll get it and give the one with "Mike" on it to my BIL with that name!

5. Yes, agree the Burton ones are a bit costly, but I got mine on close-out.

The door hanging system works well for me, though...

6. While not a woman, and being a bit more of a fan of disorganization

When i had to travel a lot, I used to carry around one of those roll up plastic cutting boards. Throw one down one down by the sink and place manly (womanly?) kit on it(even the good smelling thingies) and last day, just curve up and funnel into the bag.

You can sort it out if your plane does not crash is my motto, just keep lids tight.

7. Have you considered not wearing makeup?

If you don't have it, you don't have to store it.

While I'm a guy, I did grow up with a mom who wears makeup approximately never and most of the women I know don't wear it either. Granted most of them are usually too busy sweating in the steambox we call a gym, but the general point still holds.
