The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI've got to have a 'conversation' with a patient tomorrow. It looks like she's got ovarian cancer.
I've already put in a referral to gynecologic oncology, and there is some follow up imaging to do. But I'm not looking forward to breaking the news to her.
Vibes for her, and for our visit tomorrow, please.

(149,595 posts)Major Major vibes for you both.
That is going to be tough. But if anyone can do it with empathy, it's you...
I'm so grateful that when my opportunity to stop that disease arrived, I took it. Of course, not everybody has such a moment...
I hope she can beat it. And you will be part of that effort...

(153,150 posts)what did my mum in was.......no pain - while there was discomfort from fluid build up, she was never in any real pain - she died of cancer and didn't even take a Tylenol......I've made sure my doctor is aware of that (I've noticed I never need pain pills following extensive dental work)

(7,499 posts)How dear of you, Aristus, to come here for vibes for this lady. She is lucky to have you in her corner, assisting her in this difficult ordeal.
I know you will find the right words, and she will undoubtedly take comfort from that.
I'll be thinking of you, and her. Godspeed.

(5,279 posts)You can beat it, it ain't always fun though. The first and most important thing to arm yourself with is a conviction cancer can be beaten. Belief goes a long way. Belief in winning can pick your head up off a pillow when it weighs 500 lbs.
