Weekend music to chill by...Joshua Bell Edition

Tchaikovsky Violin concerto (Same guy who wrote the 1812 Overture we traditionally celebrate the Fourth of July with)
Joshua Bell doing some extremely hot and sweaty fiddling.
Valery Gergiev conducting the National Youth Orchestra of the United States at the BBC Proms in 2013.

Enjoy:

Peter Tchaikovsky called Johannes Brahms a "giftless bastard". I beg to differ.
They were both quite talented.

I love the bold, rhapsodic "heart-on-sleeve" lyricism of Tchaikovsky.

But I believe it was Itzahk Perlman who said the Brahms concerto is the "jewel" of the genre, and hard to dispute that claim...

Mendelssohn, Brahms, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky.

The Brahms is great too. The beginning of the third movement of the Brahms violin concerto was my ringtone for a while:

he even got a knighthood so his first name was "Sir".

Thanks for the reminder about the Bruch! I'd forgotten that I am familiar with the last movement theme.
