Is it just me, or is produce this year super good?

I was out the other day, walking past one of the green grocers in the nabe, and saw avocados were on sale - they were deep green, soft to the touch, and I just knew they were perfect - so I bought three. Had one tonight and oh, it was just the most perfectly ripe avocado, delicious, smooth.

Then, after having a sandwich, I thought about a finishing the night with a pear that'd been sitting in my fridge for a while - peeled it, sliced, and wow, that thing almost literally melted in my mouth, so sweet and juicy!

Looking forward to the rest of the summer's bounty!

We've only been here a week.

They get the cherries trucked or flown in from Washington State and Oregon, and they have been absolutely fabulous!

From my Oregon perspective, that just seems strange! Have you seen the new berry cherry yet, or do they only fly in the Bings and Rainiers?

Sweet, lighter red than a Bing. I still prefer Bings, but it isn't a bad substitute!

Haven't heard of a cherry berry (yet, anyway).

And, except for a new (to me) sort of small (but unbelievably tasty) kind of cherry a friend picked from a neighbor's garden in Belgium, the cherries from the Pacific Northwest are THE best-tasting I've had.
