Tonight on FX, there's a premier of a new series called "The Strain."
According to this review, it involves vampires.

(53,339 posts)When I couldn't find it in the SyFy listings, I googled and found it's a new FX series airing here at 10pm (Pacific).

(46,697 posts)I fixed the info. The plug was on radio so I thought that the rising from the dead twist would involve zombies.

(21,925 posts)and it's not often that I find TV series watchable anymore. The vampire or monster or whatever it is that uses that coffin was pretty creatively done and different. I found the acting, writing, and production values quite good, of feature film quality. The set up, about an airliner that arrives at the airport and lands, with everyone on board appearing to have died was intriguing. Thanks Baitball Blogger for mentioning this new show and I wouldn't have watched it without your post. I'll tune in again next week to see if it still holds my interest.

(46,697 posts)It isn't common that someone breaks through the fourth wall and remembers there's a person out here. I appreciate it.
I'm just watching it now. I had it taped on the DVR and only made it through the first fifteen minutes before exhaustion took over. This morning when I started to replay it I noticed the special attention given to certain passengers. In particular the first passenger. The cover on the object he held up to the stewardess had the same logo as the show, so I'm guessing he may take on a leadership role of some kind.
I am surprised that they started examining the passengers before photographing the scene.

(321 posts)to a series of books by Brian Lumley called "Necroscope" in that vampirism is caused by a parasite/virus. I wonder if the author was inspired by that series of books. They are well worth the read if you get a chance. Sort of a mix of horror/parapsychology(esp)/espionage/multi-dimensional travel.
