What book to movie do you like???

I'm watching "Misery," right now. Matches the book almost completely. The one movie I laughed at was "Needful Things." Couldn't even touch the story.

Now the Harry Potter series, was close. So was the Twilight (Yes, I know, I know. Have a teenage daughter!)

Narnia was close also.

Anyone???

"Cider House Rules" was excellent; "Garp" and "Hotel New Hampshire" swung and missed - and "Owen Meany" as a superb book was not treated well in its journey to the movie "Simon Birch"

I know it was not considered a proper adaptation of the entire novel but they stunk up even the part they did. Owen Meany was not a dwarf and the whole point of the thing was not just some childhood memories.

I think Garp was OK enough but made better by the performances of Close and Lithgow.

It was back in 1998 when I last did it, and that was the movie we watched!!! Before that it was "Dead Alive," and "In the Mouth of Madness." The latter made me run!!! That movie is f'ed up!!!! They banned it from here because of the satanic stuff in it. Where I live, a lot of satanic rituals happen.

"The Fault In Our Stars." I'll be expected to discuss it with all of my middle school girls in September, so I went to see it.

I thought they did a really good job. They left out some of the back story, but it really didn't affect the outcome.

To be honest, I liked the Twilight movies better than the books. Maybe because they were faster, lol. That's not saying much, since I despised the books whole heartedly.

I spend a lot of the summer reading new fiction my students will be reading.

The Harry Potter, in the last 3 could have gotten better, however would have been longer movies!!

I've seen all 3 of the "Lord of the Rings," unedited. Close to the books. However far.

Now a series I'd like to see, Robert Jordan. "Wheel of Time."

The classic movie starring Humphrey Bogart adheres almost exactly to the book in both dialogue and action. There are a few R-rated scenes in the book that were left out of the movie.

All three were terrific and true to the Trilogy. I think the third book had way too much detail about the inner workings of the security bureaucracy, though. Glad the movie left most of that out and tightened up the story.

I wish there were more in the series. Tragic that the author died so young.

Not a really good book to read if you are feeling blue or depressed. It's basically an end of the world scenario and a father is trying to get his son south and to the ocean.

Obviously, the book is better but the movie did a pretty good job. They actually filmed in an Appalachian mining town that had been abandoned.
