Etiquette poll: Holding up cell phones throughout a concert?

WARNING: GET OFF MY LAWN POLL.

Every concert I go to these days seems to have the same band playing, the one with the lineup of arms and phones. The music changes, but the lineup stays the same. I assume the arms and phones are the band because that's all I can ever see, even at 5-'11".

Yes, they paid for a ticket too, if they want to hold their cell phones high and record the show, good on them.

No, I didn't pay all those Ticketbastard fees to see your arms and phone in front of me.

Why not experience the show instead of recording it? Live in the moment.

I'm ok with it, as long as I can throw your phone across the venue, then rip your arm off and beat you to death with it.

Beats the guy yelling WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO in between every note and song.

one of the worst phenomenons to come down the pike in awhile. Most of the uploads following the show are grainy as hell and sound like ass anyway.

Used to have season tickets for the Oakland A's. Every weekend game I went to there was this guy who sat a couple rows in front of us that would bring a bottle of soap bubbles to the game and blow them constantly between innings. As I wear glasses, invariably one would float back my way and splatter on a lens. Being that we were all long term ticket holders in that section and in order to keep the peace, I opted not to help him ingest the bottle of soap bubbles. I did however fantasize about it.

That would indeed be obnoxious. Nothing like wearing glasses and having a soap bubble pop on them during a show.

All violent and stuff. Cubs fans just throw tissues at each other.

Thank you for reminding me, though. The husband has a new guitar player. In his old band, they had a smoke machine. We told him he couldn't have one, but he could have a bubble machine. Now, he bugs us at every damned gig for his damned bubbles. Off to Amazon, I go.

Edit: Well, that was easy!!!

The kid is so excited about his damned bubbles, though.

The band he came from was a very popular indie/rock band with lots of lights, smoke, and members. Big attraction for the college age crowd. Great band, actually. I own all their CDs. He is now in my husband's blues band, but they're inching out of blues...with a big push coming soon. Anyway, we figure if he wants bubbles, we'll give him bubbles. Anything to make him smile. He's still a little lost up there, but making a huge difference in the dynamic.

If they want to do that, I don't mind too much.

It is similar to what people did back then with tape recorders.

People do that crap even if they're sitting down in seats.
They'll stand up and it's like saying "anybody behind us can just wait until we're done being incredibly rude.
I'm not griping mainly for myself...it's for the handicap and people in wheel chairs.
Inconsiderate pricks.

Went to a concert last month and pretty much everyone around me was doing this. I still enjoyed myself. I was looking at and listening to J-Lo, and not the people holding up the phones.
