Achievement unlocked: successful family reunion

They're all gone or leaving this evening, and I am done. 5 children, between 6 and 13; two sisters, one cousin, one brother-in-law of the somewhat annoying Glibertarian type, one mother, one grandmother with post-stroke dementia plus physical sequelae. Most have some level of unexamined racism that makes me want to strangle them, and the fact that they're all 1) smokers, 2) with poor senses of time, 3) iffy organizational skills and 4) varying levels of ADD left me needing a cattle prod.

Survived. No meltdowns (except for a minor one when one child was too short to do something), no intra-family squabbles revived or started. Nobody pissed off TSA or the cops. I consider this a win.

I credit copious coffee, sufficient booze for low landers at Denver altitude (altitude makes for cheap date drinkers), large hotel rooms and running the kids from 9-9.

I will not do this again.

I'm exhausted.

But my grandmother is happy -- she's had everyone together while she can still remember it and she's been surrounded with attention. And that was the point.

It was most likely not easy!

And with your grandmother happy...that's just the icing on the cake!

Congrats!
