Tree of 40 Fruits

Everyone knows peaches, plums and cherries grow on trees, but what if they could grow on the same tree?

Well, one artist has removed the guess-work with a lot of tree sculpting and patience. Sam Van Aken currently works as an art professor at Syracuse University in New York State but grew up on a farm.

In 2008, Aken came across a neglected orchard on the verge of bankruptcy. But rather than seeing hundreds of rare heirloom fruits go to waste, Aken bought the property.

He then began splicing different parts of various fruit trees together and after a few years the labours of his work began to bear fruit — literally.

His experiments have now become a series of trees capable of producing stone fruits like apricots, nectarines and cherries. Not only that, the tree itself blossoms into an array of colours unlike any other plant known to man.
