Once again another amazing episode of "True Blood" last night **spoilers**

Last edited Mon Aug 11, 2014, 04:32 PM - Edit history (1)

Where the hell was this story telling the past 3 seasons because this year it's working so amazingly well. I really am going to be sad and miss True Blood after this season.

I loved how they lifted the plotline from "Eternal Sunhine of the Spotless Mind" with the Jessica/Hoyt storyline. That couple was so going downhill quickly in season #5 that the only way to save all involved was to write Hoyt out of the "True Blood" altogether. And the writers found the most amazing way to bring him back but even though Hoyt doesn't remember Jessica or Jason (Hoyt asked Jessica to glamour him and erase all member of both her and Jason before Hoyt left for Alaska) you could still see the amazing chemistry that still existed between all 3 of them. I thought it was a great twist to the storyline when Hoyt questioned his current girlfriend as to why he wanted children (Bridgette, Hoyt's current girlfriend, started talking about 'when we have babies' which turned Hoyt off immediately since he wasn't sure he wanted any). That whole scene right there not only setup everything perfect for the rest of the episode. Bridgette, angry at Hoyt, storms off in a huff with Jason, who is leaving quickly to go save Jessica from his psychotic crazy girlfriend Violet). Thank goodness Bridgette went with Jason because Hoyt followed both of them and ended up saving the day by killing Violet and rescuing Jessica, Jason, Adilyn and Adilyn's boyfriend (whose name escape me but it's Holly's kid). That scene then setup a beautiful reunion of Jessica and Hoyt - and you could see that amazing chemistry that made these 2 the best couple in True Blood history. It also created a touching scene between Jason and Jessica where they realized they had something amazing together but it just wasn't enough to be as a couple but instead just the very best of friends. In the end I predict that Hoyt/Jessica will end up together and Jason, who told Violet he really wanted children, will end up with Bridgette. Of course the writers left out that one amazing scene left to be told - how will Hoyt react when he realizes that he knew Jessica & Jason all along (hence the comparison to "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" which was about a couple that kept finding each other even after they had their minds erased). So there is a bit of drama left betwee these people before it all ends in 2 weeks.

I wasn't a big fan of the Tara storyline. I was never a big fan of Lettie Mae who thought that 'Jesus' would solve everything and her marrying Rev. Daniels was pretty low on excitement level. The fact that they pulled Lafayette into this storyline instead of showing just his growing relationship with James (Jessica's ex-boyfriend vampire) was kinda annoying to me. And I always thought it wasn't fair how they ended things with Tara. Here was this girl that was pretty much tortured for 6 seasons where she would date 'the wrong guy' and ended up in abusive situations like she was with Maryann and Franklin Mott. I thought turning her was going to be her salvation along with a great relationship between her and Pam (her maker). But before Tara and Pam could be reunited, Tara was staked the first 2 minutes of the season. Some of us thought that we didn't really see Tara staked, maybe it was the other vampire she was fighting and Tara ran away for a quick break. But it turns out that Tara had met the True Death (as casually mentioned in episode #3 when Pam confirmed she felt Tara's death). I really thought this storyline was just time fillers with Lettie Mae having hallicinations of Tara while high on V-Blood (which she first had when Willow healed Lettie Mae after a vampire had injured her). Each week we'd see Lettie Mae scam her way into getting more V-Blood so she could figure out what Tara was trying to tell her and each week I was annoyed because I didn't know the purpose of this storyline. Last night they gave an amazing tribute to the passing of Tara as LaLa and Lettie Mae followed Tara to the childhood home. And for the first time we all truly understood what made Tara and Lettie Mae tick - the dynamics of the bond between a daughter and her mother. And this time Lettie Mae's current husband, Rev Daniels, came along on the v-trip and saw that it wasn't addiction that was driving Lettie Mae but closure between a mother and her child which was so wonderfully written last night.

Of course the big storyline was about the vampires and Sarah Newlin. Anna Camp has been amazing all season as Sarah Newlin, not only the mastermind behind the Hep-V infection with the vampires but now the cure (she swallowed the only antidote for Hep-V making her blood the cure). But the best thing was Mr. Gus, the owner of True Blood, who was excited to see that Sarah's blood actually worked (Opening scene Eric bit Sarah and immediately was cured). But like a true capitalist, probably because Mr. Gus was a firm believer in American corporate greed, he didn't want to cure all the vampires. That would not be as profitable. Instead he wanted to perfect the anti-dote to only temporarily heal someone with Hep-V infection so that the infected would have to depend on 'New Blood' for the rest of their lives. What a touching scene when Eric tracked Sookie down at Bill's house to find Sookie in post-coital glow from Bill. Sookie now knew that Bill (who is badly affected by Hep-V because he was infected by Sookie's positive faery blood) could be saved. Of course we all knew that Sookie could not wait until sunset to get the cure for Bill so she went down to fangtasia hopeing there was a bottle she could bring back to Bill but instead ran into Mr Gus' goons. That was a great scene where Eric pretended to glamour Sookie and while she was fake being glamoured learned that the cure was downstairs.

It seemed like it would be happily ever after for Bill and Sookie after Sookie took Bill to Sarah via the secret tunnel underneath Fangtasia. Instead Bill opted to not be cured. Why? Well we'll have to turn in next week.

did you copy this from a blog site? Best recap of a True Blood episode that I've ever read.

Yeah, I was a little sad how they wrapped up Tara's storyline. It was adequate and tied up the loose ends, but I would have liked to have seen more of her sassy personality before it was written off.

I do sense a feeling of camaraderie between the vampires who have survived so far. Did I see a bit of concern from Pam when she saw Bill? Two more shows to find out.

I think the foundation is being laid down for Eric to realize that Pam is the one for him, which leaves Sookie open for Vampire Bill. But there's still the G Grandfather's objections/predictions which have to be overcome. I still don't know why the fearless Lilliputian doctor, who was fearless about everything else, was frightened to know that Sookie was related to him.

I don't think Sookie ends up with any vampire and instead ends up with Sam, like was done with the series ending book. They've already laid the groundwork for Sam's girlfriend to split town. And I know Sookie would never have an issue raising someone else's kid especially if that kid is blessed with special genes (in this case turning into a Shifter).

I still think Eric and Pam's relationship will always be 'Father/Daughter' in nature. She is fiercely loyal but in the end Pam still prefers women to men. I am annoyed about the whole Eric/Willow storyline and how it ended. Although it made somewhat sense with why Eric turned Willow into a vampire (even if it was the most campiest of turnings with Willow sleeping in an outfit made for a bride on her wedding night not of a typical teenager). I thought perhaps with Bill probably dying that perhaps Jessica would invite Willow to live in her home since they are both technically 'Orphaned' and Willow did ask Arlene about working at the bar. BTW I do see a quick fight between Jessica and the only known true heirs of the Compton estate - the Bellfluers. I think Andy would want Jessica to keep the inheritance but I could see Portia popping up one last time thinking that she should earn the right to own the estate. She always came across as a greedy one. In the end the government will get their share, Portia will be paid off and Andy will give his share back to Jessica with Jessica wanting to give some back to Andy.

I'd still like to know why the Lilliputian doctor fled so quickly but I think we'll have to be happy with Grandpa's answer which is 'We've killed some Dwarfs in our time'
