At the age of 41 I just got my first bee sting.

I flipped over my sons water table to clean it up and out flew one pissed off bee. Stung me right on the back of my neck.

In a panic I ran into house and drank an entire bottle of Benadryl while I called my husband.

I was okay for a few minutes until the Benadryl kicked in.

Called husband to come home. The I called poision control. I will be fine but I am stoned.

So the moral of the story is

Wait. What?

I am feeling very floaty. And slow to talk, think and type.

My husband made it home.

I am a bit confused and my eyes are buggin out. Poison control said I could sleep if I wanted to but I don't think I should.

Took me so long to type the above letters.

Thanks for caring. Hugs to you.

2. It's the second bee sting you have to worry about.

That's when the allergies usually kick in. At least that's what I was told. Something about an antibody/antigen reaction.

3. I'm sure the benadryl is much worse for you than the bee sting.

Many years ago, my friend and I traveled to a bee farm, arriving at six am. The bees (Italian Honey variety) had been sealed in their hive for our purchase.. We drove them home, ninety miles, to their new home on my land. The bees were pissed, locked in their hive, and bounced in the back of a truck. As we were unloading the hive, the taped seal between the supers came undone. Thousands of angry bees came flying out and we went running. I only got tagged a few times, but my buddy got stung over thirty times, (on the back). He was slightly sick for a day or two. Love them honey bees.

7. Wow. All you needed was an ice cube or a little paste of baking soda.

I had to keep my hand in a jar of ice water for like 18 hours when I was stung on my finger. I hope the back of the neck isn't worse than that!

Or I was all my childhood. Major FAST swelling. I have never been stung near my head or throat and also haven't been stung in over 30 years. An entire bottle of Benadryl though? I would take a double dose and then get to an ER STAT. Actually I would probably call 911 and grab hubbies epi pen to use just in case. Enjoy your floating!

I don't usually panic then overdose on a cure, but my husband and have this long running joke that I will get stung by a bee and die. I know not a funny joke to many people but it was funny to us.

It was very rude of me to flip over the shelter the bees were using to build their hive. I deserved a good sting, I don't blame them.

I can't believe how buzzed the Benadryl made me. I am familiar with various states of being under the influence. But I stopped doing all of that almost 5 years ago.

My body could not seem to agree what it was fucked up on. My teeth were grinding, eyes bulging and could not sit still like I was on coke. My speech and motor skills were acing like they were drunk. My mind and the sense of my self was like I just smoked bongs all day.

It took me more than an hour to eat an apple and a peanut butter sandwich.

Anyway, I knew I could come to the Lounge and share.

Hugs to you,

Lilyhoney

I was out doing field work, and a big ol' bumblebee got under my field vest and nailed me on the side of my torso. It hurt almost as bad as any wasp sting I had. Most of the pain wore off right away, but for the next few days, it felt like someone kicked me in the ribs.

15. For future reference, you should take the recommended dose of medicine. "Overdosing" on it doesn't

make it any more effective, but could hurt you.

I've been stung many times, including a bee that climbed in between my toes in my sandals. lol
