Kitten dyed blue saved by resident, area cat rescue

An observant resident and an area cat rescue have saved a kitten that was dyed blue and abandoned in the streets of San Antonio.

The resident found the kitten and contacted Wayward Whiskers Cat Rescue, who took care of the kitten.

The kitten, now named Smurfette, is a friendly 6-month-old Siamese mix who remains affectionate and will be put up for adoption.

Click here to visit the Wayward Whiskers website for contact info. Smurfette will be spayed and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Years ago, in the 1970s, I had a white poodle, and the groomer said that to make him a beautiful white, after his bath she rinsed him with laundry bluing. (Now it's probably considered a bad thing to do.) One summer we went camping and he missed his monthly beauty bath, so I bathed him myself. I had a pitcher of diluted bluing to rinse him with, and all of a sudden he jumped up and bumped my hand, and I slopped bluing here and there on him. It took a lot of shampoos to even him out. That was my first thought when I saw the white kitty with blue splotches - a laundry bluing mishap.

Glad kitty was rescued and will be given a good home.

She looks like a lynx point Siamese. There is something about blue-eyed cats - it's lmost like a human is looking at you thru cat eyes. We have 2 blue eyed kitties, and 3 greenies.
