I'm really glad that I saw this ... now I can scratch climbing Mt. Everest off of my bucket list....
KEEP AN EYE ON THE ELEVATION, LEFT SIDE OF YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN,
AND THEN MOVE MOUSE AT THE END, TO SEE EVERYTHING.
This is amazing . . . it's almost like being there and there's a 360 degree view from the top!

(15,200 posts)...oxygen tanks, and braving horrendous weather.
But I'm fine with good-weather climbing of some of the much smaller local mountains around here in NH, like Mount Monadnock (climbed that 5 times this year) and Mount Washington (once this year).

(51,308 posts)I'm a huge Everest fan.
So glad the video doesn't show the piles of trash that we humans have left behind on that beautiful mountain.

I like to think I'm the adventurous type, but no interest in that.
I have the book Into Thin Air and I was crying when the most experienced climber couldn't move and called his pregnant wife
before he died.
Then the sherpas dying recently.
I'll be on my couch.

(51,308 posts)I'm hooked on Everest.
But I'm horrified at the misuse of the great mountain. Sagarmatha is not happy at what man has done to her.
It was 1996 when that unexpected storm came in and I think 6 people died.
Vanity Fair had a great article on it then the book came out.
The other book by Jon I have is Into the Wild. That was depressing too.
