I listen to classic country music. I like Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Ernest Tubb, Hank Senior, Hank Snow, and more.
I looked at the list of Country Music Hall of Fame inductees, and I see a lack of instrumentalists in the hall. chet Atkins is in it, but not many more. I think more instrumentalists should go into the CMHOF. My nominees would include Leon McAuliffe, Jerry Byrd, Buddy Emmons, and Leon Rhodes. All of them were highly accomplished musicians.

(3,252 posts)Ten years ago. The lady working there told me Ralph was recovering from open heart surgery, and she proceeded to tell me directions to his house. I just didn't feel comfortable visiting him.
I did see him in concert in Dayton five years ago. His claw hammer playing style is very impressive. Bluegrass power chords!

(7,343 posts)I like the old singing and yodeling cowboys and cowgirls! Patsy Montana, Elton Britt, Roy Rogers & the Sons of the Pioneers, Gene Autry, Tex Ritter and the like. All the performers you mentioned I like, I'd add Roy Acuff, Jimmy Rodgers, The Maddox Brothers and Rose...
Speedy West, pedal steel guitarist, is in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame but should be in the CMHOF too.
Here's a video of Westley Tuttle with him, amongst others. I know this music sounds hokey to a lot of people but for me it's part of the charm.

Speedy sounds real good there. They saved the best soloist for last.
I like Montana Slim. Didn't he do a song called "Rootin' Tootin' Christmas"?
