A female leopard? Olympus makes more sense, but isn't quite as evocative as a female leopard in repose above the Serengeti plain.

I always thought they said "like Mount Everest over the Serengeti" though it was never a strong simile to me, comparing one mountain to another.
But Olympus, now that has mythology behind it, the home of the Gods and all. Much stronger and makes far more sense.
