The Fireman Zombie Twist on Z-nation.
First episode where it felt like things were beginning to gel. I like how they throw in twists to push the genre to the next level. If you saw the episode, then you know that the group had to take a detour to avoid a tornado and sought shelter in the hometown of one of the main characters.
For the episode we dealt with her personal backstory which involved leaving her husband behind. He was a Fireman, but his fate was undetermined. So this was an opportunity for her to find out what happened to him. The initial search turned up a lot of zombified firemen, but none of them were her husband. She became so depressed that she locked herself up in a room of their second floor house to wait for him as the tornado came towards them. And here is where it gets interesting. As she sat in that couch, the house began to fall apart but here comes a fireman completely dressed from head to foot in fire gear (face completely covered with mask and breathing apparatus) He does what zombies do and gets on top of her and tries to bite her neck, but obviously can't because of the apparatus.
Now, he's a big guy and we're led to believe that he provides the cover she needs to be protected from flying shards that could penetrate and kill her. End game: she survives and there's closure.
Last scene is her fireman zombie walking aimlessly up a hill, sans mask and breathing apparatus, which we are to assume got dislodged by the storm.
Second interesting twist last night: Murphy, slowly getting zombified.
