and have lived in Minnesota my entire life (with the exception of that dark year in Green Bay). For some reason, I've been saying 'soda' instead of 'pop' for many years. I also say 'sneakers' instead of the ubiquitous 'tennis shoes' (how many people really play tennis anyway?).

That sometimes influences your speech. I'm born and bred Minnesotan, but my parents are incomers from Iowa and PA. The first time I heard somebody say "You wanna come with?" I thought they forgot to end the sentence.
