(6,261 posts)As someone who's seen the effects of Alzheimer's first hand, I'm very moved by this. I've never feared death, but after my father's (I was his caretaker) and grandfather's final years, I'm absolutely terrified of senility. If and when I'm diagnosed, I hope I'll have the courage to do what needs to be done and spare my family.

Glen Campbell performs during The Goodbye Tour in 2011
(CNN) -- Even if you've never been a fan of Glen Campbell, this one's certain to tug at your heartstrings.
The Country Music Hall of Fame member, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2011, is out with the video for the final song he'll ever record -- "I'm Not Gonna Miss You." It was recorded in 2013 with producer Julian Raymond.
"I'm still here but yet I'm gone/ I don't play guitar or sing my songs," the tune begins as it details his struggles with the disease.
The poignant music video that accompanies it spans Campbell's career. It contrasts Campbell singing in the studio with home video and clips from throughout his career. There are even images of doctors discussing his brain scans with him.

(8,601 posts)...were a big part of my childhood infatuation with music. I did not remain a fan of country music once I was in Jr. High school, so I stopped following him. But this last single and some other recent videos documenting his story really bring a tear to my eye. He was one talented man, and this is simply fucking totally unfair.

(14,061 posts)One of the regrets I have is not seeing him in concert with Jimmy Webb. We went because seeing those two on stage for one last time was special. But due to circumstances. we had to leave at intermission before Glen came on. I would have loved to seen him one last time.
Fuck Alzheimer's.
