has anyone been a part of a murder mystery?

those entertainment events, to be more precise

i'm wondering--is every member of the audience/group a suspect?

how do they work? are they scripted?

is the murderer determined before the event begins?

(do i ask too many questions?)

about 15 years ago. The attendees were all people who organized conventions and large, professional meetings. I wish I remembered more about what happened. I probably should not have responded to this thread.

you have a party, give everyone their role (usually days before-hand so if they are really into it they can get costumes and such...their invitations will have instructions). The host usually has the inside scoop and steers the party (you get the story in the box) but everyone has an info packet with suggestions and scripts and then you just let it play out. How fun it is is directly proportional to how much your guests are willing to play along and get into it.

And how much booze you have.

Ours usually devolve into drunken goofing off but it's still fun. Have prizes for the winner and awards for best costume, best actor, etc...

Once we did one and my character was a woman and my wife got mad because I fit her dress better than she did at the time. I didn't LOOK better - I just fit better. They said I looked like Jane Hathaway.

But I won.

Here's one from a couple years ago - it was New Orleans themed I think...lol

None of the other passengers were suspects just the actors playing the various parts.

I was at a dinner theatre type mystery on a day cruise. The actors selected certain audience members and gave them parts and lines to read. Most of it was done by actors. An actor was killed and we had to figure out who did it. It was fun. I would like to go away and do one of those murder mysteries at a bed and breakfast or a historic hotel.

I like that you clarified that you were talking about the entertainment venues. I'm studying forensic science so my brain thought this was a dark question at first. I think I'm studying to much.

if they guessed too early in the game would the story/game have been over?

as for your second paragraph--you could always start a thread about real murder mysteries...dun-dun-dun. example: have you ever been involved or somehow connected with a murder that was never solved? this would include responses from friends, family, and acquaintances of the victim. dun-dun-dun.
