This is strange. I've raised and trained a lot of dogs.
This dog was completely unfazed during Diwali when fireworks were going off left and right.
He's also completely unfazed when I leave a Kong filled with peanut butter next to him.
Did getting his immunizations make him dogtistic? I'm at a loss here.
(Side note: he's a Lhasa Apso, and apparently some of them are just like this...)

I don't care for peanut butter much so I have never tried to give it to any pets. I can't stand to get it on my hands.

(60,014 posts)I have two chocolate labs that don't like either. Or kongs (but they love peanut butter). Our male chocolate hates anything that makes loud noises and also doesn't like the water. go figure.

(34,049 posts)--or as i began referring to them during my last one's time with me: apsos!
none of them ever cared about fireworks or thunderstorms (unlike my corgi/border collie mix who shook tremendously in her panic state during the seasons of 4th of july and new year's eve, and used to hide in the bathtub when she heard loud booms and bangs)
peanut butter on the other hand--well, to be honest i don't remember how the first two liked it but the last apso baby i had loved to eat everything. peanut butter was definitely on her list of "if it's food or kleenex, paper towels, or weird tree stuff on the sidewalk, or a blanket, or even my sweater/coat, i'll eat it!"

(34,049 posts)quick! take him outside!
when he pees (etc.) give him a little treat & a good "insert name here" vocal exclamation.
he'll get the hang of it. the outdoors has lots of reasons, smells, & incentives to go to the "bathroom" out there. it's much more enticing than the indoors.
and just remember, some puppies love to chew everything.
one of my apsos loved to pull kleenex out of a box. she wouldn't eat it, she'd shred it. and every once in awhile we'd set a box of kleenex on the floor and watch her have at it! it was hysterical!
i would have played that game with my last apso but as soon as she got the tissue out of the box it became a meal. i had to fish it out of her mouth with my fingers and, unfortunately, that was one game i knew we wouldn't be playing. but she was way ahead of me. i soon learned the bathroom garbage can would have to be off limits too!

(3,937 posts)Not familiar with the breed in-person. I have two dogs from the same litter -- the male runs from the vacuum, the female could sleep next to it; male eats arugula, sage, spinach, etc. the female spits it out. The have the same purple spot on their tongues but flipped to opposite sides of the tongue.
There is 10 million way tie for "best dog in the world" because they are all awesome in their own way.
