http://www.popsugar.com/beauty/Extreme-Plastic-Surgery-Causes-Passport-Confusion-36109761The procedure lists range from simple Botox injections to double eyelid surgery to a full jaw renovation. So it's no surprise that these shocking before and after pictures are causing misunderstandings at border airports. Now after face-altering procedures, Chinese women have to carry special plastic surgery certificates listing their passport number, the hospital attended, and the length of their stay to pass through. Some even walk through customs with stitches and bandages still intact.
This influx of patients to South Korea is due to a lack of trust in the resident Chinese surgeons. Back in 2010, pop star Wang Bei died of cosmetic procedure complications, which only added to the fuel of unreliable certifications and ghost doctors. Plastic surgery tourism isn't reserved for the China-South Korea border. Women also flock to Western Hemisphere countries like the Dominican Republic and Mexico for more affordable procedures. Keep reading to see more before and after photos of real Chinese women who have undergone major plastic surgery.

(3,998 posts)Makes me sad on so many levels. I wish people could see the beauty in their own unaltered faces. I love interesting, imperfect faces!

(56,828 posts)and, surgery to make your eyes look bigger are as common in China as breast implants and liposuction in the US. Look at most Chinese movie actresses from China - large round eyes and fair skin. Same with news anchors in China - women news anchors are almost all young, pretty, fair skinned and have big eyes.

(56,828 posts)tends to differ than what is physically attractive in women - the things that are more attractive in men are things that are acquired through time at the gym and/or playing sports and performing physical labor. A guy can work out to get big muscles or a flat stomach. You can't really get bigger eyes and boobs or fairer skin at the gym. (Though, you can cut down the desire for liposuction)

(47,209 posts)it is about the only thing I can think of that is considered more upscale/ desirable in both men and women. I've known some men to do it, but none with anglo complexions. I guess WASPs already have their ticket punched and do not feel the need, so to speak.

(9,886 posts)who needs blush to just look like I'm still alive, I'd give anything for some color.
As a rule,
man's a fool.
When it's hot
he wants it cool...
People with pale skin pretty much just think about the disadvantages to pale skin, much like people with color think about the disadvantages of color.

(56,828 posts)often want what they don't have - asian women with naturally straight hair sometimes want their hair curly, while african-american women sometimes want their hair straight. A lot of women want to be taller, but I remember a very tall college professor bemoaning the fact that she was too tall and always dreamed of being petite, or how a few other tall women I've known over the years say that some guys just aren't as interested because they're taller than a guy that might otherwise be interested...
Not always the case, of course, but it certainly seems that way a lot of the time.
It's not as outspoken in men, though I'm sure some guys think it as well.

(4,876 posts)and they did an episode where a murder victim was "addicted" to plastic surgery. Bone's response was one of the reasons I love the show, she was talking to the woman's surgeon and he reached out to touch her and said "You have beautiful structure but it's not to early to start looking at problem areas"... Her partner replied "I wouldn't do that if I were you, she'll break your arm, she thinks what you do is...."
And Bones said "Barbaric".

(66,289 posts)As far as I'm concerned, it's one of the signature characteristics of Asian beauty. Why anyone would want to get rid of it is beyond me.

Why can't beauty just be beautiful?...

(78,249 posts)Generally the pejorative term is "f'ing haole". By itself, it's just a descriptive term, like "Japanee", "Chinee", "Portagee" and so on. For whatever reason, the only one that is pejorative by itself is "popolo" (black)!
