It's amazing what addiction to prescription drugs can do to someone's life.

The lies. The bullshit promises. Agreeing to go to treatment but is looking for pills the day he gets out. The stealing from family members. Hell, even stealing the dog's meds (tramadol). His placing of the barrel of a loaded rifle against his neck was the last straw for us all.

He is now on the run, along with his GF, from the police.

No car.

No money.

Just hitch hiking to a town where there may be a shelter they can hole up in. Where that is and where they are now, they are not saying. The GF is in communication with her mother.

Bonnie and Clyde they are not. More like Dumb and Dumber

Loving or living with an addict is no fun - been around them my whole life. You know what they say: addicts don't have relationships, they take hostages. Hope they both get help and get and stay clean. Until then, take good care of yourself.

this person's life and struggles with addiction. Sounds like a untreated mental problem on top of whatever he was suffering from. On the other hand, most who are prescribed strong medications do not abuse their med, steal, or go on the run. They might kill themselves though since they may not be able to hang on any longer. I wish this person you wrote about all the power in the world to overcome his problems.
