We will be coming home from my son-in-law's funeral

with a car and a dog. My daughter does not need his car. I think we are taking over payments. She can't care for the dog, although she loves Maggie. She has been living away from their home during the week, for her job. Thank God she was home this week, when Tom died. She was attending training sessions near their home.

I am sure these two things will be only the first of many things we try to do to help. I hope our dog Kinsey and their dog Maggie get along. I am told Maggie likes other dogs. She is six. Kinsey is ten. Kinsey is a bit shy around other dogs. I think it will work, given time.

She will need all your help, and she will benefit from it too.

All my best during this time of grief...

She and my son were best friends when they were little kids. She lives a few miles from my daughter's house in Mass. Our town in Illinois has only 2500 people, but there is NJ! She and her family are helping out a lot. And NJ is the type of person who gets things done.

I can never think of much to say because everything I do think of sounds trite, but please know I sincerely hope you all cope and come to peace as soon as possible.

My son asked me what happens to people when they die. He took me by surprise, and all that came to me to tell him was that they live in the hearts of people who love them. And, that may be trite, but I know it's true. It comforted him about his grandmother and I hope it comforts someone older than 6, too.

to help her with these kinds of details.

I'm so grateful for my family. We've come through for each other during emergencies. I know that many don't have that kind of support system. I'm grateful for it every day.

Best of luck to you all murielm99.
